Aromatic complexity and surprising freshness

Riesling Herrenreben Vendanges Tardives 2018 AOC Alsace

Herrenreben means "The Lords' vines" because as early as the 15th century, the Lords of Ribeaupierre owned vines here. It is here that our oldest Rieslings grow, deeply rooted in the granite which brings a beautiful minerality, enhanced by a superb acidity preserved by the high altitude of this place (up to 500 m).

Tasting notes

  • Straw yellow with golden hues.
  • Expressive and complex nose dominated by candied citrus fruits (grapefruit, lemon, pineapple), acacia honey, and more discreet mineral notes.
  • Silky attack followed by an elegant presence in the mouth, very well balanced thanks to a fine and long acidity enhanced by a nice minerality.

Food and wine pairing

To be appreciated on its own, as an aperitif, or to be paired:
- thanks to its opulence, it will go well with foie gras, preferably associated with an exotic fruit chutney - its liveliness makes it a good match for richly cooked fish dishes (seafood cassolette, scallops with Noilly, etc.)
- a perfect match with dishes containing citrus or acidic fruits (chicken tagine with preserved lemons, endives preserved in citrus juice, rhubarb compote, exotic fruit or citrus salad, etc).

Herrenreben vu du ciel

The lieu-dit : Herrenreben

In the 15th century, the noblemen of Ribeaupierre were already cultivating Pinot Noir at this site. Cru of Wihr-au-Val on decomposed granite from Kaysersberg, this stony and sandy soil produces concentrated and elegant Pinot Noir wines. Our most mature vines also grow here, producing a particularly racy Riesling.
